Stannah Stairlifts Manufactures a Success!
Stannah Stairlifts, is delighted to have won this year's Manufacturing Plant of the Year Award, the highest accolade at the esteemed 2003 Best Factory Awards. The company also scooped the coveted Best Engineering Plant Award at the ceremony that took place on Friday 31 st October at the Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane.

Covering all aspects of the business, including sales, design, engineering, production, distribution and manufacturing, the awards are the most esteemed of their kind in the UK and are sponsored by Cranfield School of Management, the DTI and Management Today magazine.
Now in their twelfth year, the main purpose of the awards is to promote vision and best practice within manufacturing against a background of growing international competition. They are devised to encourage and promote manufacturing excellence and are an opportunity to recognise the innovation and skill apparent in UK manufacturing today. Editor of Management Today, Matthew Gwyther, commented, 'Stannah's overall approach makes them worthy recipients of this year's Manufacturing Plant of the Year and Best Engineering Plant Award. Stannah should be case-study reading for every medium-sized engineering company in the country.'
Following an assessment by an esteemed panel of judges, Stannah Stairlifts was chosen from an impressive group of finalists as the overall winner in both categories. A delighted David Walton, Managing Director, commented, 'Winning these awards is a real credit to our staff and an endorsement of the company's achievements over several years. The team has shown real commitment to the company and to have this recognised is a tribute to their work and bodes well for the future.'
Stannah was assessed on a number of criteria, including the application of best practice in manufacturing, measures to achieve quality, innovation, efficiency, continuous improvement, elimination of waste, on-time delivery and people development.
